Fencing Sword Specifications

Fencing sword specifications varied by region and nationality, and changed gradually over time. Masters of fencing would sometimes detail the ideal weapon for their particular application in their treatises. Those few written specifications contribute to our effort of accurately reproducing classical fencing weaponry for modern use.

The excerpts for each weapon relate only to the physical details of the sword. The excerpts reflect only the quoted master’s system of fencing and their ideal tool. The aggregated excerpts do not set a final and definitive standard for the French or Italian schools of fencing. We present these excerpts here for both scholarly research, and for reference to the similarities found in our products.
